What science ideas did you learn?
Some science idea's I learned over this week is how light travels. Some topics we talked about are:If light reflects in all directions, How does light bounce from your eye to the object, and how light can move around objects to reflect on other objects.
How did you learn these ideas?
In science class we learned how light travels by observing Mr. Segen take a lit candle and hold it near a piece of cardboard with a whole in the middle. [In a dark room] We learned how light bounces off from the light to your eye and the object by creating ray diagrams and sharing them with the class to see which diagram's are correct. We learned about light reflectance by taking mini-mirrors and holding a laser pointer up to them and watching light bounce off the mirror and onto a wall.
Why is it important to know this idea (What real world application is there)?
It is VERY important to know these ideas because if there was a black out in New Providence and I wanted to illuminate the whole room I'm in with a candle and a bunch of mirrors I would need to know how to best reflect the light. If I didn't kno how light bounces off objects I could be alone in the darkness of the New Providence black out, not knowing what to do.
