This week in science class we learned about waves, tides, eclipses, and moon phases! It was quite interesting stuff!
We learned about the tides by looking at a powerpoint slide that Mr. Finley put toghether. With it we could use the Spring Tides, and Neap Tides to show where High and low tides are during each moon phase. We learned moon eclpises and phases by making cool Rhymes, and ditties. The current phases we're learning about are: 1st quarter, 3rd quarter, Full moon, New moon, Waxing Cresent, Waxing Gibbous, Waning Cresent, and Waning Cresent. And an Eclipse happens every 29 days and 11 hours every year. A Blue Moon is when there are two fool moons in a month.
This sort of knowledge is important because if I wanted to get the Gnarliest waves I would need to know what phases and tides represent what kind of waves will occur at the beach. That way I can surf when the waves are at their fullest.
